Money is not the focus for releasing ‘Bahubali-The Epic’

A decade ago when SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali- The Beginning hit the theaters it changed Indian Cinema. Its sequel Bahubali 2- The Conclusion went on to become the biggest sequel and the biggest film of Indian Cinema till Pushpa 2- The Rule came along. Bahubali franchise gave scale, shattered regional boundaries, and introduced Prabhas to the entire country. Now, on the 10th anniversary of this cinematic juggernaut, the team is reuniting to release Baahubali: The Epic, a specially edited 3.5-hour version of both parts, reimagined for the big screen.

Now in an exclusive conversation with ETimes, the producer Shobu Yarlagadda revealed that it is going to be a very wide release. He said, “ It is going to be a Pan-India release, we will have a release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam in all territories. It’s not like a small release.

We don’t know yet, but it’s not like a small release. And it’s also a global release with releases happening in US, UK and other major countries and markets.”

He also shared that the motive to bring back the film on the big screen is to bring back the magic of the film, he said, “ It is clearly just bringing back and reliving the magic. It’s not that we don’t want money, but our focus is not on that.A lot of things have changed in the last 10 years, there’s Dolby Cinema now, the quality of screens have gone up. We couldn’t get IMAX for the first part, we have 4DX now and there are bigger aspect ratios, 1.9 and CinemaScope. So we are trying to provide the best possible cinematic experience. There is a generation that has come up now that has only seen Bahubali on TVs and mobiles or maybe a good home theater, we want them and people who have seen it 10 years ago to experience the magic of a larger than life cinema in theaters the way it was meant to be.”
