Breaking: Supreme Court Clears Sale Of Green Crackers In Delhi NCR, Timeframe Set For Diwali

In a major relief for Diwali celebrations in Delhi NCR, the Supreme Court has lifted the ban on the sale of green crackers this year. For the first time in several years, residents can buy and burst eco-friendly fireworks without any restriction, provided they adhere to the court-mandated schedule. The Supreme Court has allowed the sale of green crackers from October 18 to October 25, while bursting them will be permitted only during two time slots: 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM in the morning and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM in the evening. The court emphasized that this decision balances festive spirit with environmental concerns. Over previous years, bans on crackers had little effect on pollution levels during Diwali, prompting authorities to consider both public celebrations and the livelihood of workers in the fireworks industry. The order also stresses vigilance against non-green or substandard crackers, which remain a concern. Residents are advised to follow the schedule strictly to avoid penalties and ensure safety. With this ruling, Delhiites can now enjoy Diwali festivities responsibly while adhering to eco-friendly practices, marking a significant step toward sustainable celebrations.
