Dude earns just Rs 38.55 lakh in advance booking in India

Pradeep Ranganathan’s 'Dude' inches towards Rs 39 lakh advance collection in India In a twist of fate, actor Pradeep Ranganathan’s latest romantic endeavor, ‘Dude,’ with Mamitha Baiju has stumbled out of the gate in India, amassing a mere Rs 38.55 lakh by Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, overseas audiences have shown more enthusiasm, as the film’s premiere in the US raked in USD 59,069.

But going by the initial numbers coming in for the film, it has taken a slow start in India as compared to the United States of America. In the US- the film for its premiere shows had collected USD 59, 069 (Rs 52 lakh) till now, in fact till US market sale was just at USD 27,323- it showcased over 100 % jump in just 24 hours. But in India till 12 o’clock on Wednesday- Pradeep’s latest film has collected just Rs 38.55 lakh- out of which Rs 26.46 lakh has come from block booking. The film will need to witness major jumps over the next few days to take a strong opening at the box office. Dragon had taken an opening collection of Rs 6.5 crore and Love Today was at Rs 4.33 crore.

Tamil Cinema has been going through a churn at this point where none of the existing stars have been able to take up the positions of Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Thalapathy Vijay. Pradeep came in as a spring of fresh hope but he will need to prove his worth at the box office with huge collections.
At one point Pradeep’s other film Love Insurance Kompany with Krithi Shetty, SJ Suryah, directed by Vignesh Shivan was also eyeing the Diwali release but it ultimately made way for Dude.
