Kantara 2 fails to beat Chhaava as highest 2nd weekend collection of 2025

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ fails to beat Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ as the biggest 2nd weekend of 2025

The cinematic brilliance of Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara 2’ is on full display as it thrashes records to become the 12th highest Indian blockbuster and a formidable force of 2025, sitting proudly in second place. Although ‘Chhaava’ made waves with the highest second-weekend intake, ‘Kantara 2’ shows no signs of slowing down, boasting a remarkable collection of Rs 438 crore.

Ever since its release on 2nd October Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has steamrolled any movie that has stood in front of it in the record books. The film thanks to its stellar run had already become the 12th biggest hit of Indian cinema and 2nd biggest hit of 2025. Over its first week- it was also able to clock the highest collection for Saturday, Sunday and Monday of 2025. But come the second weekend, the film failed to beat the highest grossing 2nd weekend collection of 2025- the top spot will continue to be Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava. Kantara 2 over it’s first extended weekend minted Rs 337.4 crore, on its second Friday the film added another Rs 22.25 crore – a 5% jump from its Thursday collection. On Saturday the film witnessed a 75% jump to mint Rs 39 crore and on Sunday it stayed steady to collect Rs 40 crore. With that the total second weekend collection stood at Rs 101.25 crore and the total collection of the film is at Rs 438.65 crore. In comparison, Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava had earned Rs 219.25 crore over it’s 7 day week. Over its second weekend on Friday it earned Rs 23.5 crore,on Saturday the film minted Rs 44 crore and on Sunday the film collected Rs 40 crore. With that the total 2nd weekend collection of the film was at Rs 107.5 crore. Thereby becoming the highest grossing 2nd weekend collection of 2025. Over the second week Vicky Kaushal- Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna starrer added Rs 180 crore to its kitty thus providing extremely critical collections to take the final collection of the film to over Rs 600 crore collection. The second week is also extremely important for Kantara 2 as that would decide for how long will the film sustain at the box office in the coming days. The film has a clean run till the release of Ayushmann Khuraana, Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thamma along with Harshwardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat on 21st October.
