Bobby Deol marked his debut with Rajkumar Santoshi’s film ‘Barsaat’, which was released on October 6, 1995. Today, the actor has completed three decades in the industry. And on the occasion, Deol shared memories of the film. He also revealed that Twinkle Khanna, who entered Bollywood with the same movie, was not supposed to play the lead. Here’s what the actor shared in a recent interview.

In an interview with SCREEN, Bobby Deol shared that Twinkle Khanna, who also made her entry into the film industry with the movie, was not the first choice as lead. He said, “Actually, I was supposed to start with Karisma Kapoor.”The actor stated that his film was not getting developed and was in the scripting stage. He also shared the fact that at that time, “Women’s careers were such that they couldn’t work for many years.” Bobby expressed that he is happy that things have changed in the current times.Deol went on to add, “So, Karisma was a little insecure, and I don’t blame her for that. So, she decided to start her career with ‘Prem Qaidi’.”Bobby Deol stated that it was his and Twinkle Khanna’s “destiny” to make debuts together.

Since Twinkle Khanna has stated multiple times that she never wanted to be an actor, Bobby Deol was asked if she looked uncomfortable on the sets. He shared that the actress “wasn’t comfortable” at all. Deol acknowledged that Khanna has always been a “fearless” woman. He said, “She has a certain attitude that you can see even now. She has a mind of her own. She has a lot of strong conviction.”‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ actor stated that these were the reasons she went on to become a writer and added, “She’s good at all that.”
