‘Sunny Sanskari..’ crosses Rs 30 crore while ‘Kantara’ crosses Rs 200 crore

'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' box office collection day 4: The Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor movie crosses Rs 30 crore in 4 days, amidst competition from 'Kantara: Chapter 1'

‘sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ released in theatres on October 2 on the occasion of ‘Dussehra’ and Gandhi Jayanti. The film sees Varun Dhawan opposite Janhvi Kapoor. The duo had worked together earlier in ‘Bawaal’. It also stars Rohit Saraf, Sanya Malhotra and is directed by Shashank Khaitan. The film being a romcom was expected to have a moderate opening and may see growth now with positive word of mouth. Moreover, it released along with Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ so, it was bound to face competition from it. There’s was huge difference between the opening day collections of both the movies and that’s okay as there’s also a difference in the scale and budget of these films. Not to mention, the difference has increased further over the weekend where in Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has gone past Rs 200 crore at the domestic box office. As per Sacnilk, ‘SSKTK’ made Rs 9.25 crore on day 1. As per the advance bookings, the one had expected an opening in the range of ₹8–10 crore. We just saw that in the era of action and larger-than-life movies working, a romantic film like ‘Saiyaara’ broke all records which has carved a path for romcoms in theatres again. For the longest time after Covid, one had begun to think that romcoms were now only meant for OTT and not for the big screen but ‘Saiyaara’ broke that. So, in terms of that, this is a decent opening, though, does not match up to the historic Rs 20 crore on day 1 which ‘Saiyaara’ had achieved. The film saw a drop on day 2 which is Friday and made only Rs 5.5 crore. But there was growth as compared to that over the weekend. It made Rs 75. crore respectively on Saturday and Sunday each. The total collection now stands at Rs 30 crore.

‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ Memories Hit Varun Dhawan Hard; See His Photos

There’s positive word of mouth for the film but at the same time, ‘Kantara’ has taken over the box office. It has got raved reviews and has lived up to the expectations of the earlier installment. ‘SSKTK’ has also got lesser number of screens, thus, the difference in the collections of the movies is further evident.Day wise collection of ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ Day 1 [1st Thursday] ₹ 9.25 Cr -Day 2 [1st Friday] ₹ 5.5 Cr Day 3 [1st Saturday] ₹ 7.5 Cr Day 4 [1st Sunday] ₹ 7.75 Cr * early estimates -Total ₹ 30.00 Cr
