Kantara 2 all set to cross USD 2 million mark in USA

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ all set to cross USD 2 million mark by Sunday end in USA

Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has achieved a brilliant start at the Indian box office, expected to enter the year’s top 5 grossers. However, its US performance is challenging. Despite crossing USD 1 million, the film faces potential losses for distributors, with a high breakeven point of USD 7.5 million, mirroring previous struggles in the market.

While Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has taken a brilliant start at the Indian box office where it has already become the 11th biggest grosser of the year, the same can’t be said about the United States of America. The US market is usually dominated by Telugu and Hindi films, but Kantara ( 2022) was the first to break the norm ; it beame the first Kannada film to cross USD 1 milion mark. Kantara 2 also began on a slow note with premieres bringing in just USD 500,000 and day 1 recording a collection of USD 310,000 from day 1. On day 2 the film witnessed a jump where it earned USD 448,000 taking the film beyoond USD 1 million mark. On day 3 the film till early evening minted USD 605,000- it’s maximum collection till date. And as per advance sales for the next day the film has already sold tickets worth USD 270K and going by trend it could once again cross USD 500,000. Taking the film well past USD 2 million mark.

‘Kantara Chapter 1’: Rishab Shetty Consoles Emotional Wife, Reviews Pour In

While USD 2 million in itself looks like a big numbers but the distrbutors are looking at a loss in the near future. The breakeven point for the film has been pegged at USD 7.5 million mark and going by the trends the film doesn’t look primed to corss that number. In fact Rajinikanth’s Coolie’s breakeven was also pegged at the number and despite all the buzz from him coming together with Lokesh Kanagraj and presence of Nargarjuna to Aamir Khan couldn’t help the film to cross USD 7 million mark. But the film conitnues its dominance in India and expected to break into the Top 5 grossers of the year by the end of week 1.Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 also featured Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram in leading roles. The makers with the climax of Kantara 2 have already announced the third installment in the Kantara series.
