UP Bareilly: Internet Suspended, High Alert After Last Week Violence; 82 Arrested

Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, remains on high alert following last week’s violent incidents. The administration has taken strict measures to prevent any recurrence, including a temporary suspension of internet services in the district for 48 hours starting Thursday. Authorities cited misuse of social media platforms as a major factor in spreading unrest, prompting the preventive step.Security has also been tightened in neighboring districts, with additional personnel deployed to maintain law and order. Special vigilance is in place ahead of Friday prayers to ensure that communal gatherings proceed peacefully. The administration has emphasized that any attempt to incite violence or disturb public peace will be met with strict action.0So far, 82 individuals have been arrested in connection with the previous unrest, reflecting the administration’s zero-tolerance approach toward lawbreakers. Authorities continue to monitor social media and on-ground activities closely, aiming to prevent any escalation. Residents have been advised to remain calm and cooperate with the security forces. These measures underscore the government’s proactive steps to maintain communal harmony and public safety in Bareilly and surrounding areas.
