When a director asked Jaya B to imagine Abhishek dying for a scene

When Jaya Bachchan was asked to imagine Abhishek Bachchan dying for a scene in a film: ‘She looked very disturbed, actors go through that’ - EXCLUSIVE

Jaya Bachchan is usually perceived to be a tough taskmaster or a very strong lady, which largely comes from her banter with the paps. But deep down, the actress is quite sensitive as people close to her often have said. In an earlier interview with ETimes, Abhishek Bachchan had recalled an incident when he saw his mother extremely disturbed after she came home from a shoot. He shared this personal story while talking about what actors go through emotionally while getting into a zone of a character. Abhishek revealed, “I’ll tell you a very personal story. “After many years away from the camera, my mother did a film in the 90s called ‘Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa’ with Govind Nihalani. She came back home and I was an assistant director back then. She looked very disturbed, so I asked her what happened. She said, ‘I had to do a scene where I had to go and identify the body of my son. I didn’t understand.’

He further added, “So, Govind ji had given a very specific interesting direction to shoot the scene. He said, ‘Imagine that’s Abhishek lying over there’. This sounds really harsh, but that’s what actors go through. Even if he had not said that, that’s what she would have imagined to make that emotion real. You bring a lot of your personal stuff into your work.” Abhishek had also said that the performance of an actor is largely dependent on the director. ‘Actors are just puppets,’ he had said. On work front, Abhishek was last seen in ‘Kaalidhar Laapata’. He’s currently shooting for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘King’.
