J&K: Govt teacher booked under POCSO Act in Rajouri; at large after suspension

JAMMU: A government school teacher in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir was suspended and later booked under POCSO Act on Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl student, officials said, adding that he is currently on the run.“Following the incident, the students staged protests against the teacher, prompting senior officials of education department to rush to the school at Kakora in the district on Tuesday,” officials said.“The protest was later called off around 5:30 pm after the suspension order and the FIR,” they said.The suspension order cited “allegations of a grave nature”.The teacher, identified as Ajaz Ahmad, is currently absconding and a police manhunt has been launched.
