Days after the Pakistani security forces allegedly carried out an aerial attack in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region in Pakistan, there were reports of a similar nature as clashes broke out at Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir on Wednesday.

According to sources, there are reports of two deaths as clashes broke out between the police and protesters on Neelum Bridge.

The sources told News18 that the police resorted to shelling and aerial firing on protesters leaving two protesters dead and several injured.

This comes hours after reports of eight deaths as Pakistani security forces opened fire on protesters in Bagh district’s Dhirkot as well as Muzaffarabad and Mirpur.

Violent protests against the Pakistani government continued on the third consecutive day, as the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) sustained its call against the authorities.

Four people died in Dhirkot while two each were killed in Muzaffarabad and Mirpur, as per sources. On Tuesday (September 30), two deaths were reported in Muzaffarabad. While there is no official confirmation, there have been 12 deaths in the clashes over three days.

The protests have paralysed PoK in the last 72 hours with markets, shops, and local businesses closed, while transport services remain suspended.

Earlier in the day, demonstrators hurled stones and toppled large shipping containers placed on bridges to block their march on Muzaffarabad, sending them into the river below. Visuals showed dozens of protesters pushing the containers off the bridge in a show of defiance.

Last week, 30 civilians were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following alleged aerial strikes by Pakistani Air Force J-17 fighter jets using Chinese-made LS-6 laser-guided bombs.
