Breaking: UP ATS Arrests Four Militants Planning Sharia Push, Weapons Funding Linked To Pakistan

The Uttar Pradesh Anti‑Terrorism Squad (ATS) has claimed a significant success after arresting four radicalised suspects allegedly involved in a conspiracy to impose Sharia law and form a militant jihadi outfit. The arrests — reported from Kanpur, Rampur, Sultanpur and Sonbhadra — follow intelligence that the accused were recruiting like‑minded individuals, collecting funds through social media channels, and preparing to procure weapons. Authorities say documents and financial records recovered during searches point to organised fundraising and coordination efforts. Investigators further allege that the quartet maintained links with extremist networks across the border and received ideological and logistical encouragement from handlers in Pakistan.Following initial interrogation, the ATS produced the accused in court and secured judicial custody. Police sources say forensic analysis of digital devices and banking trails is ongoing to map the broader network, identify fund sources, and trace any arms procurement attempts. Officials emphasised that early disruption of the cell prevented planned violent activity and possible large‑scale mobilisation. State authorities reiterated their commitment to strict action and appealed for public vigilance, urging citizens to report suspicious recruitment or fundraising activity online. Legal proceedings and custodial questioning will continue as security agencies attempt to ascertain the full extent of the group’s plans and connections.
