Global leaders praised US President Donald Trump for devising a plan to end war in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted the proposal at the White House on Monday. Along with the proposal, Trump also said that it would take steps to defeat Hamas if the group doesn’t accept the proposed peace deal.

Israel would have the “full backing” of the United States, Trump added.

France’s President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Washington’s commitment to ending the war in Gaza. Similarly, neighbouring Italy also welcomed the proposal and reiterated that it was ready to play its part in close coordination with the United States, European partners, and regional actors.

Macron Urged Hamas To Release All Hostages

French President Emmanuel Macron took to X and praised Trump and also urged Hamas to release all hostages. “I welcome President @realDonaldTrump’s commitment to ending the war in Gaza and securing the release of all hostages. I expect Israel to engage resolutely on this basis. Hamas has no choice but to immediately release all hostages and follow this plan,” Macron’s post on X reads.

“These elements must pave the way for in-depth discussions with all relevant partners to build a lasting peace in the region, based on the two-state solution and on the principles endorsed by 142 UN member states, at the initiative of France and Saudi Arabia. France stands ready to contribute. It will remain vigilant regarding the commitments of each party,” he added.

Italy also echoed same sentiments and offered stabilization, reconstruction, and development of the Gaza Strip.

“The proposal presented today by US President Donald Trump could mark a turning point, enabling a permanent cessation of hostilities, the immediate release of all hostages, and full and secure humanitarian access for the civilian population,” the office of Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a statement.

“The Plan, which Italy welcomes favorably, presents an ambitious project for the stabilization, reconstruction, and development of the Gaza Strip, with the full involvement of regional partners. In this framework, Italy is ready to do its part, in close coordination with the United States, European partners, and those of the Region, and thanks President Trump for his mediation work and his efforts to bring peace to the Middle East,” the statement adds.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said the Trump plan “offers a unique opportunity to end the terrible war in Gaza.”
