Mahesh Manjrekar’s first wife Deepa Mehta passes away

Mahesh Manjrekar’s first wife Deepa Mehta passes away, son Satya Manjrekar pens emotional tribute: 'I miss you mumma'

Actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar’s first wife, Deepa Mehta, has passed away. The news was confirmed by their son, actor Satya Manjrekar, who took to social media to share an old photograph of his mother along with a short but moving note. “I miss you mumma,” he wrote.

Mahesh and Deepa’s journey together

Mahesh Manjrekar married Deepa Mehta, a costume designer, in 1987. The two had known each other since their college days and later welcomed two children — daughter Ashwami Manjrekar and son Satya Manjrekar. However, the marriage ended in 1995, after which the children continued to live with Mahesh.

Deepa’s entrepreneurial success

After her separation, Deepa went on to carve her own identity by establishing her saree label, Queen of Hearts. The brand gained popularity not only in the Marathi film industry but also in Bollywood circles. Ashwami often modelled for her mother’s designs, even as she pursued her own career in cinema.

Mahesh Manjrekar’s family today

Following his separation from Deepa, Mahesh married actress Medha Manjrekar, with whom he shares a daughter, Saiee Manjrekar. Saiee made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg 3 and has since appeared in films like Major and Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay. Mahesh’s step-daughter Gauri Ingawale is also an actress, known for films such as Panghrun, Hi Anokhi Gath, and De Dhakka 2. Meanwhile, his children with Deepa — Ashwami and Satya — continue to carry forward the family’s creative legacy in cinema.
