Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a fiery address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), asserting that Israel has decisively struck at Iran-backed groups across the region while warning of Tehran’s expanding nuclear ambitions. Speaking before world leaders, Benjamin Netanyahu invoked the plight of Israeli families whose relatives remain held hostage in Gaza and accused Iran of destabilising the Middle East.

“The families of our hostages languishing in Gaza… Iran’s terror access threatens the peace of the entire world, the stability of our region, and the very existence of my country, Israel,” he said.

Benjamin Netanyahu charged that Tehran is advancing “a massive nuclear weapons programme, a massive ballistic missile programme” designed not only to “destroy Israel” but also to “threaten the United States, and blackmail nations everywhere.”

‘Crushed, Hammered, Crippled’

The Israeli leader touted military action against Iran-backed proxies in the past year.

“In the last one year, we have hammered the Houthis, we crushed the Hamas terror machine, we crippled Hezbollah, taking most of its leaders, nuclear arsenal,” Benjamin Netanyahu said. adding, “Believe me, they got the message- thousands of terrorists dropped their guns… We devastated Iran’s atomic weapons and ballistic missile programme.”

Netanyahu’s Warning On Iran

Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Iran’s ambitions posed a global danger, insisting that the international community must confront its nuclear programme.

“This was not only to destroy Israel, they were meant also to threaten the United States and blackmail nations everywhere,” he said.

The address came amid ongoing tensions across the region, with Gaza still reeling from conflict, Hezbollah clashes along Israel’s northern border and heightened fears about Iran’s nuclear trajectory.

Delegates Protest Against Netanyahu At UN

As Benjamin Netanyahu took to the stage, dozens of delegates filed out of the hall in protest, even as others applauded his remarks. Israel faces mounting global pressure to end the conflict in Gaza and halt its occupation of the West Bank. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he “will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank.” The United Kingdom and Germany have also warned Israel against such a move while UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described annexation as “morally, legally and politically intolerable.”
