Arjun and Malaika hug each other at Homebound premiere

Exes Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora share a rare post-breakup reunion, hugging and greeting each other at Homebound premiere

Bollywood’s spotlight shifted briefly from the stars of Homebound—Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa—to a reunion that caught everyone’s attention. Former couple Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora were seen exchanging warm greetings at the film’s premiere, giving fans a glimpse of their cordial post-breakup dynamic.

A brief but memorable reunion

In a video that quickly went viral, Arjun was spotted mingling with fellow actors, including Neha Dhupia, and engaging in light conversations with guests. After posing for the cameras on the red carpet, Malaika approached Arjun. The duo shared a hug and exchanged greetings, marking one of their rare public appearances together since their breakup in 2024 after a few years of dating.

Malaika on personal life and resilience

Malaika has always tried to keep her personal matters away from the media glare, but a comment from Arjun had dragged her into the spotlight. Despite maintaining her composure, she expressed her hurt in an interview with ETimes, stating that she never chooses a public platform to discuss her private life. “I will never choose a public platform to talk about my personal life. So, whatever Arjun has said is entirely his prerogative,” she said. She also opened up about getting inked after the breakup, explaining that her tattoo holds deep personal meaning. Speaking to The Times of India, she shared, “I don’t get them just for the sake of it, they have deep personal meaning. This particular one symbolises the year that 2024 has been for me. The words ‘patience’ (sabr) and ‘gratitude’ (shukr) are very comforting. These words resonate with me when I think about where I am now, compared to where I was just a year ago.”

Handling negativity and staying optimistic

Over the years, Malaika has developed resilience against online trolling. In a chat with Hello Magazine, she revealed, “I have somehow built a mechanism—or shield, I would say—around me where I don’t let the negativity through anymore. The minute I feel that energy, I recoil instantly. It’s something I’ve learned to do over time. It would get to me earlier and I would lose sleep over it.”Despite past breakups, Malaika remains hopeful about love. “I’ll never give up on the idea of true love, no matter what. I’m a typical Scorpio that way, so I’ll fight for love till the very end — but I’m also very realistic and know where to draw the line,” she shared. Both Arjun and Malaika are currently single and focused on their respective work projects, but their brief public interaction reminded fans that cordiality and mutual respect can survive even after a high-profile breakup.
