In Delhi, the demand for a meat ban during the Navratri festival is gaining momentum, especially from within the ruling BJP. Several party MLAs, including Karnail Singh and Ravinder Negi, have written letters to MCD officials, urging the closure of meat shops near temples. Another BJP leader, Tarvinder Singh Marwah, has also appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi CM to ensure meat shops remain shut during the nine-day festival. A video appeal by a BJP representative also surfaced, requesting all restaurant owners and especially international fast food chains like McDonald’s, KFC, Domino’s, and Burger King to refrain from selling meat during Navratri. The speaker emphasized that while Indians respect foreign traditions abroad, global brands should likewise honor Indian religious sentiments and the sanctity of Navratri. The appeal highlighted the importance of preserving Sanatan Dharma values and maintaining religious harmony.
