US President Donald Trump said his administration will make a major announcement regarding autism on Monday. While Trump did not provide details, he suggested that the issue is urgent and deeply concerning, citing what he described as a dramatic rise in autism rates among children.
“We’re going to have an announcement on autism on Monday. It’s got to be Monday. Because what’s happened with autism,” he said during a public appearance.

“I think it’s gonna be a very important announcement. I think its gonna be one of the most important things that we will do,” he added.
He further compared autism prevalence over time, claiming, “If you go back 15 years, maybe a little bit longer, it was one in 10,000 children who had autism? Now it’s 1 in 12 boys. Think of it.”
The US President did not elaborate on the nature of the upcoming announcement—whether it would be related to policy, funding, healthcare, or research.
This comes following a Wall Street Journal report earlier this month that suggested officials would release information linking Tylenol to the condition in children, the Hill reported.
In the past, Trump, Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. publicly made statements linking autism to vaccines and other medicines despite a lack of research to support their claims, the outlet claimed.
Autism diagnoses in the US have seen a sharp rise since 2000, fueling growing public concern. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the autism rate among 8-year-old children reached 1 in 36 (or 2.77%) by 2020. This marks a steady increase from 2.27% in 2018 and just 0.66% in 2000, highlighting a significant upward trend over two decades.
