On Sunday, September 21, the year’s second and final solar eclipse will occur. Starting at 10:59 PM and ending at 3:23 AM (Sept 22), it will last 4.5 hours. The partial eclipse won’t be visible in India, so Sutak Kaal won’t apply. But a question arises: Should you sleep during a solar eclipse?

Astrology considers solar eclipses inauspicious. Experts say sleeping during this time can attract negative energy, harming physical and mental well-being. That’s why many traditions advise staying awake.

According to astrologers, expectant mothers should be extra cautious. It’s believed that sleeping during an eclipse may negatively affect the unborn child.

Tradition suggests sitting on grass during the eclipse, bathing before and after, and avoiding stale or pre-cooked food. Fresh fruits are considered safe to eat.

While modern science sees eclipses as natural events, cultural beliefs still guide many rituals. For believers, avoiding sleep during an eclipse is about protecting health and energy.
