Kangana Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra shared the screen in the 2008 hit ‘Fashion’, a film that changed both their lives. Back then, Priyanka was already a well-known name in Bollywood, while Kangana was a fresh face, trying to find her footing. Looking back at ‘Fashion’ days, Kangana had once admitted she was completely starstruck around Priyanka and couldn’t help sneaking peeks at her on set.During a past media interaction at a fashion event, the ‘Queen’ actress said that walking the ramp to the title song of ‘Fashion’ brought back memories of her first days on the film.

The ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actress then recalled, “I was 19 or 20, I was very young. So I was once telling my friends that when Priyanka used to come on sets, I used to get so starstruck because she was this superstar on set. I used to be a model. Hum log aise chhup chhup ke Priyanka ko dekhte they (We would try to steal peeks of her). The song reminded me of those days. That was the time I had walked the ramp for the first time.”
Film ‘Fashion’ became turning point for actresses
Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, ‘Fashion’ told the story of Meghna Mathur, a small-town girl who becomes a successful model. Priyanka played Meghna, while Kangana portrayed Shonali Gujral, a model who faces a downfall.The film was a major success and earned two National Film Awards. Priyanka won the National Film Award for Best Actor for her role as Meghna, while Kangana won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Shonali.
Priyanka praised Kangana’s acting
Earlier this year, the ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ actress spoke to Vogue about shooting ‘Fashion’ and praised Kangana. The ‘Barfi!’ actress said, “My co-actors are Mugdha Godse and Kangana Ranaut, two really really prolific actors from India, and Kangana actually won a really prestigious award called the National Award, with me, for this movie. It was just a really life-changing movie and I had 120 or 110 costume changes in the film, because it was like the life of this model.
