Ameesha recalls how Lazy Lamhe song with Saif changed her image

Ameesha Patel recalls how Lazy Lamhe song with Saif Ali Khan changed her image: 'I told Aditya Chopra that I won’t wear the bikini'

Ameesha Patel revealed how the song ‘Lazy Lamhe’ from ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’ transformed her image from a ‘good girl’ to a ‘hot’ icon. Aditya Chopra challenged her to portray a ‘bimbo’ character and embrace a sexy avatar. Despite initial hesitation about wearing a bikini, Ameesha dedicated herself to the role, even taking scuba diving lessons for underwater scenes.

Ameesha Patel, who had built a good girl and a girl-next-door image with her popular roles in movies like Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Gadar, made a bold decision when she chose to feature in Lazy Lamhe song with Saif Ali Khan from Thodha Pyaar Thodha Magic.

How the song changed her image

Recently, on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Ameesha said, “When people talk about a song being sexy, they talk about Lazy Lamhe. People still tell me that ‘you look so hot in that song’. The tag of being hot got attached to me because of that song, and my previous image of being the good girl completely changed. I never considered myself hot or sexy, but Aditya Chopra told me that I always had that, even in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.”

The challenge of the role

Elaborating further, she added, “When Aditya called me for the part, he explained that it was a small role. Basically a bimbo; a flaky character like a dumb blonde. He asked whether I would be able to play this. That became my challenge number one, and I thought that this was a great opportunity for me as an actor. He also said, ‘There is one more challenge. I want to change your image from the pretty and beautiful girl to hot and sexy, and you’ll have to wear a bikini.’ I was very nervous, and I told him that I won’t wear the bikini, but I’ll give him what he needs as a director and become the first YRF actress to do it without wearing the bikini.”

Hard work behind the song

“I worked very hard for the song, and we shot for at least 11-12 days, even though it takes hardly 2-3 days to shoot music videos these days. I took scuba diving lessons for the song because I had to be underwater and lip-sync with the lyrics of the song. I had to train myself to hold my breath because they didn’t want bubbles in the shot; it had to look clean. We were shooting in the winters, and both I and Saif got sick. But whenever we would see the underwater shots, he would always say, ‘How the F do you look so hot underwater?’ I didn’t realise that I was having that effect on men until Saif and Kunal Kohli pointed it out,” Ameesha concluded.Meanwhile, on the work front, she was last seen in Anil Sharma’s ‘Gadar 2’ with Sunny Deol and Utkarsh Sharma. The film did some record-breaking collection at the box office. Go to Source
