When Zubeen Garg was airlifted from Dibrugarh to Guwahati after suffering an epileptic fit

The sudden demise of singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore has left the entire nation mourning. The 52-year-old artist, who rose to fame with the hit song Ya Ali from the Bollywood film Gangster, lost his life in a scuba diving accident. But did you know this was not the first time he had faced a life-threatening situation? Here’s a look back at a previous health scare.In 2022, Garg suffered a major health scare that required hospitalization. The singer first complained of uneasiness and later collapsed in the washroom of a resort in Dibrugarh. He was rushed to a private super-specialty hospital, where doctors revealed he had suffered an epileptic fit.A senior specialist, Dr. Rana Barua, had confirmed that while Garg was stable, he had sustained a head injury during the fall and required stitches.At the time, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma instructed the Dibrugarh deputy commissioner to ensure the singer received “the best possible medical treatment.” The CM even said that if necessary, Garg could be shifted outside Guwahati by air ambulance for advanced care. Following this, the singer was airlifted to Guwahati for further treatment.

Celebs mourn Zubeen Garg’s demise

Several celebrities including Adil Hussain, composer Pritam, Vishal Dadlani, Jubin Nautiyal, Armaan Malik, Vishal Mishra, Badshah, Shaan, and Papon expressed their grief over Garg’s untimely death.The singer had been attending the Northeast India Festival in Singapore when the tragedy occurred. Organisers shared that he developed breathing issues during a scuba diving session and was administered CPR.
