The widow of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist assassinated on a college campus last week, was unanimously elected as the new CEO and Chair of Turning Point USA, the youth-oriented Republican organization her husband founded.

The decision by the board comes amid questions about the group’s future and its influence on young voters ahead of next year’s congressional midterm elections. US President Donald Trump has credited Charlie Kirk with energizing young conservatives and helping him secure the White House.

“Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one. He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests. And now, it is our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point USA,” the board said in a statement.

Erika Kirk, 36, is stepping into the role less than two weeks after her husband was fatally shot by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson during an event at Utah Valley University on September 10. Tyler Robinson is accused of firing a single rifle shot from a rooftop, killing Charlie Kirk instantly.

Following her husband’s death, Erika Kirk delivered a powerful video address signaling her determination to carry forward his mission of recruiting young Americans to conservative causes.

“You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife. The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry,” she declared. Like her late husband, Erika shares a deep Christian faith and conservative values.
