India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid a moving tribute to singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore. The news of his untimely death has left the entire nation, especially Assam, in deep sorrow.

PM Modi expresses shock over sudden demise

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his grief and shock. He wrote, “Shocked by the sudden demise of popular singer Zubeen Garg. He will be remembered for his rich contribution to music. His renditions were very popular among people across all walks of life. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Assam Chief Minister calls Zubeen Garg a favourite son

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also expressed his deep pain at Zubeen’s sudden passing. He said, “Today Assam lost one of its favourite sons. I am in a loss of words to describe what Zubeen meant for Assam. He has gone too early, this was not an age to go. Zubeen’s voice had an unmatched ability to energise people and his music spoke directly to our minds and souls. He has left a void that will never be filled. Our future generations will remember him as a stalwart of Assam’s culture, and his works will inspire many more talented artists in the days and years to come. ”

Rahul Gandhi says Zubeen Garg’s voice defined a generation

Rahul Gandhi too shared his condolences, “The passing of Zubeen Garg is a terrible tragedy. His voice defined a generation, and his talent was truly unmatched. He overcame personal tragedies to reshape the landscape of Assamese music. His perseverance and courage have left an enduring mark. He will live on in our hearts and minds forever.”

Many leaders from different states and parties joined in remembering Zubeen.Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and others shared condolences.

Music industry icons mourn Zubeen Garg’s sudden demise

Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains will return to Assam soon
