A sudden rise in the water level of the Jam River in Pandhurna, Chhindwara, triggered panic as several nearby areas were submerged on Tuesday. The river, flowing in full spate, was seen crossing over bridges, creating a flood-like situation in surrounding villages. Visuals showed water stretching as far as the eye could see, with many homes already inundated up to their doorsteps. Interestingly, Pandhurna itself did not receive heavy rainfall, but excess water from nearby villages drained into the Jam River, causing its level to rise sharply. As a result, villages like Tegaon, Mohi, and Peepal Pani have been severely affected, with roads and small bridges completely submerged, cutting off connectivity to the city.Authorities have appealed to residents to stay away from flooded areas, bridges, and the riverbank. Despite warnings, locals were seen attempting to cross submerged roads, putting their lives at risk. The administration has deployed teams to monitor the situation and ensure safety measures. With continuous waterlogging and the threat of further rise in river levels, the situation remains tense. The district administration is closely watching developments and has urged people to remain alert until conditions improve.
