Breaking: Delhi University Students’ Union Elections Today, Over 2.75 Lakh Students To Cast Votes, Counting Tomorrow

Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, considered one of the largest student polls in the country, are being held today. More than 2.75 lakh students are eligible to vote and will decide the leadership of the prestigious university. Voting is being conducted in two shifts — for day classes from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and for evening classes from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The counting of votes will take place tomorrow, 19 September. This election is seen as a major political event since it reflects the mood of the youth and often sets the tone for larger political trends in national politics. The contest is mainly between Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), backed by the BJP, and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), affiliated with the Congress. Both organizations have campaigned extensively, promising better student facilities, improved infrastructure, and stronger representation of student issues. The stakes are high, as the winning student body not only gains control over the university’s decision-making platforms but also emerges as a training ground for future political leaders. Security has been tightened across DU campuses to ensure smooth voting. Results will reveal which student outfit succeeds in capturing the confidence of Delhi University’s massive student population.
