Together for Palestine: Hollywood stars say ‘Stop the killing’

Together for Palestine: Cillian Murphy, Billie Eilish, Joaquin Phoenix and other Hollywood stars band together; demand 'Stop the killing' -WATCH

Some of the world’s biggest stars, including Oscar-winners Billie Eilish, Cillian Murphy, Joaquin Phoenix, Brian Cox and many other Hollywood stars have come together in a show of solidarity and support for the campaign, ‘Together for Palestine’. In a video posted online, the star-studded line-up, including actors, singers, comedians, poets and authors have lent their voices to demand an immediate halt to the violence in Gaza and the West Bank.The powerful one-minute video was released online on Wednesday, ahead of the Together For Palestine benefit concert at London’s OVO Arena tonight.

Stars Speak Out in Video Message

The video opens with ‘Peaky Blinders’ star Cillian Murphy and ‘Joker’ actor Joaquin Phoenix, followed by appearances from Sharon Horgan, Steve Coogan, Annie Mac, Penelope Cruz and Peter Gabriel among others saying, “Together for Palestine.”Billie and her brother Finneas also add their voices, declaring they are “together for Palestine.”Brian Cox of ‘Succession’ fame opens the video saying, “We have to tell the truth on behalf of the people of Palestine.”US photographer and activist Nan Goldin adds, “It’s always been the artist’s role in society to speak out, to risk speaking truth to power.”Author and activist Michael Wayne Rosen states, “We know that the leaders of this country are complicit in the mass murder of civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.” Steve Coogan adds, “It’s important to speak out now, not when this is over. Right now, while it’s happening. Pressurise your government, lend your support to those who are peacefully campaigning, call for a ceasefire, stop the killing.”The full video also features PenĂ©lope Cruz, Benedict Wong, Javier Bardem, CaitrĂ­ona Balfe, Rupi Kaur, Malala Yousafzai, Florence Pugh, Eric Cantona and many more.

Concert to support organisations aiding Palestine

Proceeds from the Wembley concert will go to Palestinian-led organisations, including Taawon, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and Palestine Medical Relief Service.The line-up features Damon Albarn, Bastille, Cat Burns, Greentea Peng, Hot Chip, James Blake, and Jamie xx, who Eno says are coming together “not just to raise our voices, but to reaffirm our shared humanity.”Additional performers such as Celeste, Leigh-Anne, PinkPantheress, Rina Sawayama, Riz Ahmed, Elyanna, Saint Levant, and El Far3i are also set to take the stage.Organised by music legend Brian Eno, the show, also live-streamed worldwide, is said to be the UK’s largest benefit concert for Gaza.
