Prahlad on Abhishek’s 17 FLOP FILMS

Prahlad Kakkar on Abhishek Bachchan's FLOP FILMS: Clarifies comments on actor getting work despite 17 flops

Ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar has social media reeling over his shocking statements in his recent interview. One such statement making waves online, is his controversial comments about actor Abhishek Bachchan, in which he had questioned the actor’s career graph, despite his box office track record and series of flop films.

Prahlad Kakkar on Abhishek Bachchan

In a video interview with Vickey Lalwani, Kakkar said that while he continues to believe Abhishek is a “great actor,” but said that he considers him “lazy.” In the clip, he says, “I believe that Abhishek is a great actor, but he’s just lazy. He’s amazing, he’s just lazy.”While reflecting on his past remarks about the actor that created quite the stir, he clarified that it was meant to be a criticism on Bollywood’s functioning, which he described as a “mom-and-pop shop.” He clarified, “I asked that if somebody else had 17 flops like Abhishek had, would he still be getting work?”

Abhishek’s clap back

Abhishek had previously responded to Kakkar’s criticism with a social media post. The actor chose to take the high road, saying, “I love Prahlad Kakkar, he should be a stand-up comic not an ad-filmmaker. Maybe then someone will take him seriously! This coming from a man who makes commercials with his own son. Hmmm. Oh ya, Prahlad, I’m already in the Guinness Book of World Records and a very proud son. I hope you give your sons an opportunity to say the same someday.”

On nepotism in Bollywood

Kakkar explained, “The discussion was about the industry. And I said that it’s not an industry. It’s a mom-and-pop shop. How is it an industry? There’s nothing professional about it. The only thing professional about it is the technicians.”Calling out the actors, directors and producers, he said, “They’re not professionals. They’re moody and haphazard; that’s why films take three years to make. And they’re so star-dependent. Everybody is picked from families; it’s such a system of nepotism.”

Kakkar’s past project with Abhishek and Aishwarya

Kakkar in the same interview, also revealed that he had planned his directorial debut with a film starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. However, the project never took off due to issues with the producer, whom he described as a “crook.” Go to Source
