Trump Heads To UK For A Historic Second State Visit, Starmer Banks On Royal Charm Offensive | 4K

Last Updated: Crux Videos

President Donald Trump is making an unprecedented second state visit to the UK. Traditionally, US presidents serving a second term, like Trump, are not offered a state visit. Instead, they are invited for tea or lunch with the monarch, as happened with former presidents Barack Obama and George W Bush. But in February, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer handed Trump an invitation from King Charles III during a White House meeting to discuss a UK-US trade deal. Starmer said the invite was “truly historic” and “unprecedented”. Trump’s fascination with the monarchy is at the heart of this state visit. For the UK government, Trump’s royal fandom creates an opportunity. So King Charles and the rest of the royal family will be actively encouraged to play a role in diplomatic negotiations. n18oc_world n18oc_crux
