Haryanvi actor Uttar Kumar arrested in alleged r*pe case

Haryanvi actor and filmmaker Uttar Kumar arrested in alleged r*pe case; promised victim marriage and film roles: Report

TRIGGER WARNING: The article contains references to r*pe and suicide.Haryanvi actor and filmmaker Uttar Kumar was detained on Monday from his farmhouse in Amroha. This came after a 25-year-old colleague accused him of r*pe and intimidation. Reportedly, the police acted after the woman tried to end her life outside the Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow, blaming authorities for inaction.

Complainant alleged harassment started in 2020 project

As reported by TOI’s City Desk, the actor first met Kumar in August 2020 through a music project. She told TOI, “He expressed interest in collaborating with me on various film and music video projects. Thus, we exchanged phone numbers. Over time, he began to show personal interest in me, and complemented me by saying I could become a big star one day.”She said Kumar invited her to his office in Ghaziabad and later to his Amroha farmhouse, initially for work discussions. But the harassment soon escalated.

Woman described early incidents of sexual harassment

The further woman recalled, “The initial incidents of sexual harassment occurred around August and September 2020, when Uttar Kumar invited me to his office near DLF, Ghaziabad. He started by saying, ‘why are you sitting with a dupatta like this, don’t you know no one becomes a heroine with a dupatta on’. When I protested, he said, ‘why are you scared, we are in the same industry and we have to work together. I will make you a big star’.”She also alleged that Kumar called her to his farmhouse in October 2020 for a “script reading and private audition” and tried to offer her ‘liquor’ despite her refusal.

Harassment reportedly continued for over three years

The woman claimed that Kumar kept pressuring her for a physical relationship over three years, from August 2020 to November 2023, often asking his manager to leave the room. He allegedly promised her marriage and lead roles in films, including ‘Adla Ka Badla’, but did not keep these promisesWhen she began getting offers from other producers, Kumar allegedly insisted she work only with him. In June–July 2023, she confronted him in front of her sister. She also claimed that he threatened her with defamation, blacklisting, and said he would release private videos of her.

Woman alleged police initially ignored complaint

The woman filed a complaint at Shalimar Garden police station on June 24, 2025. She said, “The cops, however, didn’t register my complaint. I then moved court and got the FIR lodged. But the police changed the witness statements and turned the case in favour of Kumar.”After discovering that a final report had been submitted in court without her knowledge, she attempted suicide outside CM’s office on September 6, 2025.

Police registered FIR and detained the actor

Nimish Patil, DCP (Trans-Hindon), said, “On the basis of the complaint, an FIR has been registered against Uttar Kumar under sections 376 (r*pe) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and relevant provisions of the SC/ST Act. We conducted an initial investigation and detained Kumar from Amroha.”As reported by PTI, while being taken to Ghaziabad, Kumar complained of health issues and was admitted to a private hospital in Indirapuram. Patil added, “Once the doctors give clearance, we will arrest him.”
