Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a major three-nation foreign visit beginning September 17, with scheduled stops in Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and engaging in high-level diplomacy.

Top government sources told CNN-News18 that the prime minister will begin his visit in Saudi Arabia on September 17, where he is expected to hold bilateral talks with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The meetings will focus on economic cooperation, investment, and regional security.

From Saudi Arabia, Sharif will travel to London on September 18, where he will remain until September 21. During his stay, the prime minister is scheduled to hold important meetings with senior UK officials, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, to discuss bilateral trade, climate cooperation, and diaspora-related issues.

On September 21, the Pakistan prime minister will leave for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session. He will spend seven days in the United States, engaging in a series of diplomatic meetings on the sidelines of the UNGA.

One of the key expected engagements is a potential meeting with US President Donald Trump, likely between September 24 and 25, sources said. The meeting, if confirmed, would take place on the margins of the UNGA and could mark a significant moment in Pakistan-US relations.

Sharif is scheduled to address the UNGA on September 26, where he is expected to highlight Pakistan’s stance on key global and regional issues, including Kashmir, climate change, and economic challenges.

Accompanying the Prime Minister on this high-stakes diplomatic tour will be Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir, who is also set to hold top-level security meetings in Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, according to senior government sources. His parallel engagements are expected to focus on defence cooperation, counterterrorism, and strategic security concerns.

Earlier in June, Munir had a private luncheon with President Trump at the White House, a meeting that raised eyebrows and triggered speculation about a deeper recalibration in ties. More recently, Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with US Secretary Marco Rubio in Washington, signalling continued high-level engagement.

The wide-ranging diplomatic outreach is seen as part of Pakistan’s efforts to reassert its international role and strengthen partnerships amid evolving regional dynamics and global geopolitical shifts.
