Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the three-day Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at Vijay Durg, the former Fort William, the Eastern Command headquarters of the Indian Army in Kolkata. The key meet—held for the first time since Operation Sindoor—was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. A defence official told PTI that Operation Sindoor was a ‘targeted, punitive initiative to eliminate terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and within Pakistan, demonstrating a coordinated tri-services action characterised by precision and professionalism.’ National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and the chiefs of all three armed forces also took part. The biennial CCC is the top-level platform for civil and military leaders to discuss strategic, institutional and operational priorities through interactive sessions with officers of various ranks. This 16th edition focuses on reforms, transformation and operational preparedness under the theme “Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future.” “The focus of the conference reflects the armed forces’ commitment to institutional reforms, deeper integration and technological modernisation, while sustaining a high level of multi-domain operational readiness,” the defence official added. The previous CCC was held in Bhopal in 2023.As for the this year’s conference, PM Modi reached Vijay Durg around 9.30 am from Raj Bhavan, where he stayed overnight, and will leave for Purnea, Bihar, later in the day.
