‘The Witcher’ Season 4: All you need to know

'The Witcher' Season 4: Liam Hemsworth takes over the titular role; release date announced

Henry Cavill is passing down his medallion to the Australian actor who recently got engaged, Liam Hemsworth. Taking over the new season of ‘The Witcher,’ the 35-year-old would be starring as Geralt of Rivia in the upcoming eight episodes, releasing on October 30.

Liam Hemsworth takes over the role

Hemsworth will be donning the uniform for the final two seasons of the series, 4 and 5, bringing an end to the epic fantasy series. Netflix released a clip on social media that gave a glimpse into the actor performing the role for the first time, and a dazzling answer to what fans can expect. The actor fights a heroic battle with the ghostly creature, and ends it by snatching the heart while crushing it into pieces.

Henry Cavill bid goodbye

In October 2022, Cavill announced on Instagram that he would be bidding goodbye to the series after working with the team for three seasons. Additionally, he also mentioned that Hemsworth would be taking over the series, which has been deemed a controversial move by Cavill’s loyal fan following. The third season was released in two parts in June and July 2023, marking the end of Havill’s white-haired board. “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” he wrote, before adding, “In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”

About the third season

The logline for the third season reads, “After the Continent-altering events of Season 3, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge and their goals sharpen, they stumble on unexpected allies eager to join their journeys. And if they can accept these found families, they just might have a chance at reuniting for good,” according to Variety.
