'Demon Slayer - Infinity Castle' box office collection day 2: Japanese anime continues to shine, mints Rs 26 crore in India

‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle’ knows how to win hearts with breathtaking visuals and poignant stories – and the box office collection screams the success as well. Even with a limited fan base in India, the sensational Japanese anime film continued to mint crores on day 2, along with gasps, awe, and applause.

‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle’ earned Rs. 13 crore at the box office, the number that matched the collection of the first day, according to the early estimates by Sacnilk. Released in 5 languages: Japanese (original) with English subtitles, English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, the net collection now stands at Rs. 26 crore. The theatres saw a tumultuous journey on Saturday, with morning shows being filled at 41.58%. Surging in the afternoon, with theatres jam-packed at 53.58%. However, evening shows a shocking decrease with 0% occupancy, only to end on a stronger note with 48.08%.On Day 1, many fans preferred to watch the anime in the original language, gaining nearly Rs. 7.5 crore at the theatres. Breaking the momentum, the film earned a mere Rs. 2.4 crore in English, as compared to Japanese. However, others opted for Hindi over English, making the collection in the former language surge a bit with Rs. 2.75 crore. As for Tamil and Telugu, the collection was marginal with Rs. 15 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs.

About the anime film

The film, ‘Demon Slayer – Infinity Castle,’ saw its buzz long before the theatrical release dates, when the sites saw seats getting houseful during the advance booking phase that began on September 5. As a result, many theatres in the metropolitan cities introduced shows at 5:00 a.m. as well as at midnight. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the film, ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle,’ revolves around the demon king, Muzan, who has launched an attack on Tanjiro and his team in the Demon Slayer Corps to pull him into the dangerous maze of Infinity Castle.
