Ameesha Patel at 51, reveals why she never wants to get married

Ameesha Patel opens up on being single at 51, says she will never marry: 'Can't affort a man to come and change..'

Several celebrities in the Hindi film industry have chosen to embrace singlehood, with stars like Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen and Tabu often speaking about living life on their own terms. Joining that list, actor Ameesha Patel recently shared why she has no plans to get married at the age of 51.During a recent AMA session on X (formerly Twitter), Ameesha responded to a fan who asked, “When are you getting married?” The actor gave a candid and witty reply, saying, “Never, superrr happy being single. I have 100 close family and friends who love me. Can’t afford one man to come and change all that.”Her response resonated with many social media users, who echoed her thoughts on relationships and marriage. One fan commented, “That’s really great. Getting married is a compromise which hinders your ability to grow as a dream-achieving person. Being single has something more exhilarating feelings than being married.” Another wrote, “True, being single is the way.” A third user added, “Oh meet too.”This isn’t the first time Ameesha has spoken about her personal life. Last year, while appearing on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, the actor revealed that she had once been in a serious relationship. However, she said her then-partner was not supportive of her decision to pursue a career in films. She also clarified that she hasn’t ruled out marriage altogether but would only consider it if she found the right person who respected both her individuality and career aspirations.”I am all up for marriage, as long as I find someone worthy. They say that ‘Where there is a will, there is a way,’ so the person who finds me through everything and mauke par chauka maarlege (takes advantage of the situation) will be my person. I still get all kinds of proposals from a lot of well-to-do families. People half my age want to take me out on a date, and I am open to it because a man has to be mentally mature. I have met a lot of people older than me who have the IQ of a fly.”On the work front, Ameesha was last seen in the 2024 romantic comedy ‘Tauba Tera Jalwa’, directed by Akashaditya Lama and co-starring Jatin Khurana and Angela Krislinzki. Her most recent box office success remains ‘Gadar 2’, in which she reprised her iconic role of Sakina opposite Sunny Deol. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film emerged as a blockbuster, earning ₹686 crore worldwide. The cast also included Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa and Gaurav Chopra in pivotal roles. Ameesha has not yet announced her next project.
