Madhavan says Aditya Dhar spent Rs 10 crore extra on Dhurandhar peak detailing

Aditya Dhar spent Rs 10 crore on 'peak detailing' for 'Dhurandhar', says R Madhavan: 'Before the release, I would have questioned, who is going to watch?'

‘Dhurandhar’, which emerged as India’s biggest film franchise with earnings of over Rs 3,000 crore, made history for several reasons. Among its most talked-about aspects was its meticulous “peak detailing,” a creative approach that quickly became the subject of countless memes across social media.Actor R Madhavan shared how director Aditya Dhar’s dedication to intricate storytelling initially seemed difficult to comprehend. However, the film’s phenomenal success completely transformed his outlook.”Can you imagine a project that is so lengthy, like eight hours, in which you have to invest time to add details you have in your mind, but which might be missed?” Madhavan asked during a conversation with Gulte.com.He went on to reveal that Dhar reportedly invested a substantial amount solely to perfect those finer details.”Somebody told me that Aditya Dhar spent an extra Rs 10 crore for this peak detailing. Before the film’s release, if someone told me this, I would have said, ‘you’re mad’, I would have asked, who would watch all of this? Who would have thought about these?” Madhavan added.Madhavan said that the film’s reception proved that audiences are far more perceptive than filmmakers often assume “But after Dhurandhar’s success, I realised that when the intent is correct and you are insinuating something — leave alone showing something — people will get it. Because people are far more advanced than we give them credit for. That’s a big takeaway from Dhurandhar for me,” said the actor. In the film, Madhavan portrays Ajay Sanyal, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, with the character drawing strong inspiration from India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval.Meanwhile, on the occasion of his 43rd birthday, Aditya Dhar expressed heartfelt gratitude to audiences through a post on X (formerly Twitter). Acknowledging both the appreciation and the viral memes surrounding the film, the filmmaker reflected on his journey.”Sitting here today, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. For the journey, for the team that has always walked beside me, and for the faith so many of you have shown in my work over the years,” Dhar wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Referring to the viral online trend inspired by the film’s attention to detail, he added:”Reading all your messages, tweets, stories and all the ‘Peak detailing by Aditya Dhar’ memes, my heart is full. I wish I could personally respond to each one of you, but please know how deeply I value all your love and encouragement.”The director also spoke about the uncertainty of filmmaking and the importance of audience support.”None of this is something I take for granted. In an industry where nothing is guaranteed and every film is a leap of faith, the trust of the audience means everything,” he added.Encouraging aspiring creators to stay committed to their ambitions, Dhar concluded with an inspiring message.”If this year has taught me anything, it is to never lose belief in your dreams, however big they might be. Show up with honesty. Give your work everything you have. And the universe will respond. Trust that every small step and every struggle is slowly leading us exactly where we are meant to be,” he concluded.Alongside Madhavan, ‘Dhurandhar’ also stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles.
