Jharkhand Assembly: NDA Targets Hemant Soren as Monsoon Session Opens Amid Exam Row

The Jharkhand Assembly’s Monsoon Session began amid intense political confrontation, with NDA legislators staging a protest outside the Assembly over the alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations. Carrying banners and posters, opposition MLAs demanded Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s resignation and called for a court-monitored CBI investigation into the recruitment controversy. The opposition also urged the Centre to consider President’s Rule in Jharkhand, alleging that the state’s recruitment system had lost public confidence. During the protest, BJP and NDA leaders displayed posters carrying allegations of corruption in recruitment examinations and accused the government of failing to protect the interests of job aspirants. These allegations have not been established in court, and the state government has denied wrongdoing while continuing its investigation. The political protest coincided with significant developments in the ongoing probe. The Jharkhand CID arrested five more suspects, taking the total number of arrests in the investigation to 19. According to investigators, the probe is examining the alleged involvement of officials, examination agencies, coaching operators, and intermediaries in a suspected recruitment fraud network. Meanwhile, the government has initiated dialogue with protesting students, with talks expected to take place at the State Guest House. A five-member government panel and an equal-sized student delegation are expected to discuss the protesters’ key demands, including fresh examinations, an independent probe, and recruitment reforms.
