Jharkhand Student Protest: Government Opens Dialogue After 12 Days of Agitation

The Jharkhand government has initiated talks with protesting students after 12 days of continuous agitation at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. The government believes a solution can be reached through dialogue and has formed a committee of four ministers to engage with the protesters. Officials have clarified that, unlike some other student movements involving paper leaks, the current issue is related to alleged backdoor entry and unfair appointments. Student leaders have welcomed the government’s offer for talks but have maintained that their demands must be fully accepted before they withdraw the protest. They are waiting for the government to finalize the date and venue of the meeting. Their three main demands are cancellation of the JPSC examination conducted by TDPL, a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities, and reforms in the examination system. The government has stated that strict action is being taken against those found involved and expressed confidence in the investigation agencies. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Assembly session has begun, and the student agitation is expected to become a major political issue inside the House.
