'Ramayana' set for November 6 release: When Ranbir Kapoor revealed film would release on daughter Raha's birthday

Fans around the world, waiting for Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’, finally got an update about the film’s release date. After keeping fans waiting for weeks for an official release date announcement, the makers finally revealed that they have locked in November 6, 2026 as the official date for its theatrical debut. While fans are only just getting their confirmation, those keeping up with leading man, Ranbir Kapoor’s social media game, will know that he actually teased the release date early this year. Ranbir, during an Instagram Live session on filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s ARK page in February, revealed that ‘Ramayana’ would release on his daughter, Raha Kapoor’s birthday. He said, “Ramayana releases on Raha’s birthday, yes! That’s such a beautiful coincidence.”

‘Ramayana’ to be Raha’s first film on the big screen

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, where the film’s first trailer made its global debut, Ranbir also shared that ‘Ramayana’ would be the first film Raha watches in a theatre. When a fan asked Ranbir about taking children to watch the film to learn about their religion and culture, the actor and dad of one, admitted, “I’m very excited to take my daughter to the film. It is going to be her first film on the big screen.”

The actor also reflected on his casting process to play Lord Rama and its ‘coincidence’ with his personal life. He shared, “I was in a period where I needed to change my life and lifestyle. I became a father for the first time. I think the sweet coincidence of playing Lord Ram and becoming a father was needed for a turning point in my life,” he said.

Ramayana cast and release date

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The epic also features Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Shobana and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. The film will be released as a two-part saga, with Part 1 slated to arrive in theatres on November 6, 2026, followed by Part 2 which will arrive on Diwali 2027. Go to Source
