POLITICAL WAR: SP Defends Pappu Yadav Protest, Says Donation Row Bigger Than Saffron Debate

The political controversy over Pappu Yadav’s saffron attire during the Parliament protest has intensified, with the Samajwadi Party defending the demonstration and shifting focus back to the temple donation allegations. SP leaders argued that the issue of alleged donation irregularities is the main concern and accused the BJP of diverting attention towards the clothing and symbolism used during the protest. Responding to questions over Pappu Yadav arriving in a priest-like outfit, Samajwadi Party leaders said that Pappu Yadav is an independent MP and therefore the party would not comment on his personal style of protest. However, they maintained that the larger issue being raised is related to alleged misuse of public faith and donations. The SP claimed that the government has not given a satisfactory response on the donation controversy and questioned why action has not been taken if there are concerns regarding the matter. Party leaders said they would continue raising the issue among people and seek answers from the government. The BJP has criticised the protest, accusing Pappu Yadav of disrespecting saffron traditions and religious sentiments. BJP leaders and some religious figures have questioned the use of saint-like attire in a political demonstration inside the Parliament complex. The opposition, however, has rejected these allegations and said the debate over attire is being used to avoid answering questions on the donation issue. SP leaders insisted that accountability and transparency remain the central points of their campaign.
