Voting has begun for three high-profile assembly bypoll seats across Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, with polling starting at 7 AM. The elections are being closely watched as all three states are currently governed by the BJP-led NDA. The Bankipur seat in Bihar has emerged as a major political contest, as BJP’s Nitin Nabin had previously represented the constituency before moving to the Rajya Sabha. The BJP faces a challenge from Prashant Kishor, who is contesting his first election with the Jan Suraaj Party, while the RJD has also entered the race with its candidate Rekha Gupta, making it a triangular contest. In Madhya Pradesh’s Datia seat, the bypoll follows the exit of former BJP leader Narottam Mishra, who had dominated the constituency for years. BJP has fielded Ashutosh Tiwari, while Congress has nominated Ghanshyam Singh, creating a direct contest between the two parties. In Gujarat’s Manjalpur seat, BJP candidate Satish Govindbhai Patel is facing Congress’s Bhikhabhai Rabari in a constituency traditionally dominated by the BJP. The polling process is currently underway peacefully.
