16 years after Cochin Haneefa’s passing, family moves into dream home; Dileep, Harisree Ashokan attend housewarming ceremony

Sixteen years after the passing of legendary Malayalam actor Cochin Haneefa, his family’s dream of owning a permanent home has finally come true. The actor, remembered for bringing laughter to generations of Malayalam cinema lovers, had always wished to build a house named after his father. That dream has now been fulfilled by his family. As reported by Asianet News, the new residence, located in Vennala, Kochi, has been named “Cochin Haneefa’s A.B. Manzil.” The name pays tribute to his father, A.B. Muhammad, whose memory Haneefa wanted his home to honour.

A beautiful home built with memories of the actor

The newly built house stands on a compact plot but has been designed to maximise space and comfort. It includes five bedrooms and features elegant interiors. While the building appears to have two floors from the outside, it offers the layout and amenities of a three-storey home. The house has also been designed as a tribute to the late actor. Its walls display several photographs from Haneefa’s life and career. His awards and treasured memorabilia have also been carefully preserved throughout the residence.

A difficult journey after Cochin Haneefa’s passing

Cochin Haneefa passed away in February 2010, leaving behind his wife Fasila and their twin daughters, Safa and Marva who were only four years old at the time. The couple had become parents after 12 years of marriage. Following the actor’s death, several people advised Fasila to return to her hometown. However, she decided to remain in Kerala as she wanted to stay in the place that had become home through her husband. For the next 16 years, the family lived in a rented house in Kadavanthra while facing financial and legal challenges.

Legal relief helped the family build their home

Reports say that after Cochin Haneefa’s death, several of his assets became tied up in legal proceedings. The family had to wait for years before those issues could finally be resolved. The legal hurdles came to an end after Safa and Marva turned 18, allowing the family to regain control of the actor’s properties. That development made it possible to build the long-awaited house. The new residence is situated on Ambedkar Road in Vennala and is named “Cochin Haneefa’s A.B. Manzil”.

Dileep and Harisree Ashokan attend housewarming ceremony

The housewarming ceremony was attended by several members of the Malayalam film industry, including Dileep and Harisree Ashokan, who shared a close bond with the late actor.During the traditional ceremony, Fasila, along with daughters Safa and Marva, performed the customary milk-boiling ritual to mark their entry into the new home. The family also acknowledged the support they received after Haneefa’s passing. During their most difficult years actor Dileep allowed Haneefa’s Toyota Innova to be used on his film sets. The income generated from the vehicle became the family’s primary source of livelihood while they rebuilt their lives. Go to Source
