American actress and singer Mary Millben welcomed the resumption of trade talks between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hailing it as a demonstration of how “friends negotiate.”
Her remarks came after Trump announced the reopening of negotiations with New Delhi to dismantle trade barriers, a move that PM Modi endorsed, saying the discussions would “unlock the limitless potential of the India-US partnership.”

Sharing her reaction on X, Mary Millben wrote, “This is how friends negotiate. With mutual respect, understanding, and shared common ground. This is the @POTUS and PM @narendramodi I know. We need each other and we are stronger together. Our alliance sets a moral and economic compass for the world. And a pathway to peace.”
The support marks a shift in tone from last month, when Mary Millben had voiced concern over Donald Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on Indian goods. At the time, she warned that “muscular verbiage” around tariffs risked hurting small businesses on both sides and urged Washington and New Delhi to “negotiate as real friends.”
Trump And Modi On Trade
In a post on Truth Social, Donald Trump said he looked forward to speaking with his “very good friend” PM Modi in the coming weeks.
“I am pleased to announce that India, and the United States of America, are continuing negotiations to address the Trade Barriers between our two Nations,” Donald Trump wrote.
Responding publicly, PM Modi described the United States and India as “close friends and natural partners,” expressing confidence that the talks would expand economic cooperation and further strengthen bilateral ties.
