Dia Mirza took to Instagram a day after PM Modi posted a video message on the issue, expressing her disappointment with his remarks. While Modi assured strict action against those responsible for the alleged paper leak, his message stopped short of addressing several core concerns behind the protests, including the students injured in the lathi charge, Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike, and the families reportedly grieving the loss of their children amid the crisis.

In response to the Prime Minister’s statement, Dia took to Instagram with a hard-hitting note that read, “Not one word of empathy for the parents who have lost their children, for the children who have died, for the incredible resilience of students demanding their rights, for Sonamji and the students who were on a hunger strike for weeks. How hard can it be Sir? It took 47 days for you to say something. And now that you have, you have said nothing. Nothing that can heal the millions of hearts that are broken.” The actress has been one of the most outspoken voices from the film industry backing the ongoing protest. Ever since the demonstrations started, she has regularly used her social media presence to highlight students’ concerns, encourage peaceful democratic engagement, and demand accountability from those in power.

On the professional front, Dia Mirza will next appear in the Netflix series ‘Operation Safed Sagar,’ whose teaser dropped back in February this year.
