Paper Leak Row: PM Modi Promises Tough Anti-Paper Leak Bill, Rahul Gandhi Demands Dharmendra Pradhan’s Removal

Amid the ongoing student protests at Jantar Mantar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a late-night video message outlining the government’s action plan against paper leaks. Calling the issue a serious concern for millions of students and parents, he announced that a stringent anti-paper leak bill has been drafted and will be approved by the Cabinet before being introduced in the current Monsoon Session of Parliament. The proposed law includes provisions for fast-track courts and stricter punishment for those involved in examination fraud. Modi also said the government had ensured that 22 lakh students did not lose an academic year by conducting fresh examinations and publishing results promptly, while those accused in the paper leak cases have already been arrested. Reacting to the announcement, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi dismissed the Prime Minister’s message as an attempt at damage control and demanded the immediate removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The government has also replaced the Higher Education Secretary and announced fast-track courts, while political debate continues over whether the Opposition will support the proposed legislation in Parliament.
