The ongoing student protest at Jantar Mantar has significantly disrupted normal life in the national capital, prompting authorities to impose fresh restrictions across central Delhi. For the third consecutive day, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued an advisory announcing the closure of entry and exit at 17 metro stations from 7:30 a.m. until further orders. The affected stations include major hubs such as Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, ITO, Supreme Court, Janpath, and Jhandewalan. However, passengers can continue to use interchange facilities at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat without exiting the stations. The impact of the protest has also extended to Connaught Place, where commercial activity has been curtailed. Following an advisory issued by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), shops, offices, and restaurants in the area have been directed to close early at 6:30 p.m. Authorities say the restrictions have been imposed to manage crowd movement and maintain public order as the student agitation continues in the Jantar Mantar area.
