Travis Scott talks about landing ‘The Odyssey’: Admits he was ‘actually nervous’

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ has created quite a buzz online. With many people debating over the dialogue choices as well as the casting, Travis Scott’s addition to the list came as a big surprise to many. The famed rapper was cast as one of the birds in the film who tells the tale of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca. In one of his recent interviews, Scott opened up about how he landed the role in the first place and just how nervous he was to play a role in Nolan’s film.Travis Scott shares how nervous he was being cast in ‘The Odyssey’The ‘SICKO MODE’ rapper recently starred on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on July 21, where he was asked about how he landed the opportunity of a lifetime. The rapper candidly shared that he landed the role after Christopher Nolan personally reached out to him and invited him to take on the character of the Bard.He added, “My phone went off, and it just said, ‘Chris.’ And I’m thinking, like, ‘Okay, I don’t know what this is about. Maybe he wants to go to a show?’” Further on he added, “I’m like, ‘Okay, what’s this about?’ So I pick up, and he’s like, ‘Would you be interested in acting in a movie?’ And I’m like, ‘I mean, I guess, you know? What’s the [role]?’ but I didn’t think it was for him. I thought it might be for somebody else.”The 35-year-old further shared that the request surprised him to the core, as this was his first acting role. He mentioned the most he had done in front of the camera was only for his music videos. He added, “I’m like ‘Whoa, hold on. Wait. Wait. You know I make music?’ and then he gave me his whole thesis on why…”Travis Scott shared that Christopher Nolan inspired him deeplyThe rapper also shared a few words on what it was like to work with the legendary director and how his first acting credit felt like. Scott shared, “I really enjoy his time. I’m really inspired by him; he’s a real mentor of mine outside of this. And so I’m like, ‘Yo, whatever you’re down with, I’m down. However, it goes, I’m with it.’”When he was asked about how it all felt for him by Jimmy Fallon, the rapper candidly replied, “I was actually nervous as ‘F,’ but it worked out.” He also explained that, “I didn’t know that it was going to be Anne Hathaway, Tom [Holland] and Robert Pattinson, a bunch of like, amazing people… I don’t know what the f— I’m doing. But they were such [an] amazing cast, you know?”Other than being on screen for ‘The Odyssey’, Travis Scott also worked on one of the end-credit songs for the film. ‘WHEN I’M HOME’, a collaboration with James Blake nd featured punchy lines about the ‘Odyssey’ tale and everything that happened in the film.
