The Monsoon Session of Parliament witnessed another disruption as both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned amid uproar over the NEET paper leak controversy. Soon after proceedings began, opposition MPs raised slogans demanding discussion on the issue, forcing repeated appeals from the Lok Sabha Speaker to allow Question Hour to continue. The Speaker emphasized that Question Hour is an important accountability mechanism and assured that discussion on any issue could take place after it under parliamentary rules. However, the continued protests led to the Lok Sabha being adjourned until 12 noon. In the Rajya Sabha, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the government is ready for a detailed discussion on NEET and urged the opposition not to impose conditions. He said discussions should happen without politicising the issue and highlighted the government’s decision to establish fast-track courts for paper leak cases. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated the demand for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation before any discussion. The deadlock resulted in both Houses being adjourned.
