With five very different releases across 2026, starting off with the Vir Das starrer ‘Happy Patel’, ‘Ma Ka Sum’, ‘Kohrra’ Season 2, ‘Border 2’ and ‘Pritam and Pedro,’ few actors can claim a 2026 as varied as Mona Singh’s with releases spanning comedy, drama, crime and thriller genres. In a recent interview, Singh reflected on the patience and conviction behind her choices, saying she’s always waited for the right script rather than simply staying busy.

Mona Singh reveals why she waited for the ‘right script’

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mona Singh looked back on the journey that brought her here, believing in staying patient and waiting for meaningful opportunities rather than accepting projects simply to remain visible. Reflecting on her career, Mona said she never allowed setbacks to shake her belief in herself, adding that perseverance has been central to her journey.Singh said, “I have never thought in my life that this won’t happen. There is nothing that is impossible. If I had given up, I wouldn’t be standing in front of you today, honestly. I just kept going, I stayed consistent, I kept waiting, not for the next script but for the right script. I think that’s why all my releases look so different. They look like a curated collection, not a random pile of work… no, I have done the right work. ”

The ‘Ba***ds of Bollywood’ actress also shared the parameters that guide her script selections, revealing that she actively seeks roles that challenge her as both an actor and a woman.Explaining her thought process, Mona said, “Something that I have never done before as an actor, as a woman. I expect myself to take on challenges that I have never done before. I don’t want a woman to be kept only as the moral compass… or to be just the relatable next-door girl… or simply a good mother. Is she driving the script? Is she taking the narrative forward? Are her ambitions and her resilience being celebrated in the script? That’s what I look for.”

More about ‘Pritam Pedro’

Created and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and directed by Avinash Arun, it is set against the scenic backdrop of Goa, the show follows the eccentric dynamics between a seasoned police detective, Pritam (played by Arshad Warsi), and a tech-savvy cyber genius named Pedro (played by Vir Hirani in his acting debut).
