Fact Check: Did Naseeruddin Shah attend the CJP protest?

Fact Check: Did Naseeruddin Shah attend the CJP protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar? Video from film screening in Mumbai goes VIRAL

A video claiming to show Bollywood veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah allegedly standing in solidarity with the students’ protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi has gone viral on social media.Several social media users shared the video with captions alleging that Shah had quietly joined the protest at Jantar Mantar along with his sons, Imaad Shah and Vivaan Shah. The widely circulated footage shows the actor standing to one side with his son by his side, watching as people walked past them.

Naseeruddin Shah’s video allegedly ‘at Jantar Mantar’ goes viral

One viral post claimed, “Amidst the ongoing student movement at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, Naseeruddin Shah arrived with his sons Imad and Vivan Shah. He did not give any public statement, simply standing quietly leaning against a pillar and observing the protest. He also watched the dispersing students with seriousness after the police action.”Another post stated, “Naseeruddin Shah joined the student protest at Jantar Mantar with his sons, Imaad and Vivaan. He said nothing. He simply stood, watched, and stayed. Sometimes, silence speaks louder.”The video quickly gained traction online, with many commenting about the actor attending the demonstration.

Naseeruddin Shah’s video from Mumbai, not Delhi

However, the video of the actor was not shot at Delhi, but at Mumbai, outside Regal Cinema, in Colaba. The footage, originally shared on Instagram by a user identified as Rajesh Gaur, shows Naseeruddin Shah standing with his sons at the street corner. The video goes to show the man panning the camera to share the visuals from outside the cinema hall. He even turns the camera to show that the actor was attending a screening at the theatre that was playing the films ‘Raja Shivaji’ and the romantic comedy ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sara Ali Khan, and Rakul Preet Singh. However, in the viral clips shared online, the video appears to be edited to exclude footage that makes it evident that the actor was spotted at the theatre and not at Jantar Mantar. Original video posted on July 15The timing of the video further contradicts the viral claim. The footage was posted online on July 15 and posted once again on July 20. However, the clip only went viral on Monday, under the pretext that the actor had joined the protest. Go to Source
